The Mizzou Brand Toolkit helps you quickly apply our brand to marketing and communications materials. Please review the information on this page based on the software you are using. If you have questions about using the toolkits, please email identity@missouri.edu.

Our team is here to support you, be a resource and develop toolkits to make sure you have what you need to use the Mizzou brand. Together, we learn from each other and find new ways to use the brand, identify areas of improvement and share our creativity. During the next 6 months, we enourage you to submit the following materials for review:

- Can’t Be Tamed advertising and recruitment material

Workshops
Licensing and Brand Management hosts brand graphic workshops throughout the year to help you grow with the Mizzou brand and increase your skills in a variety of design software including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Express, Word, PowerPoint and IntelligenceBank.

Adobe Creative Cloud License
An Adobe Creative Cloud license is recommended for users who create marketing materials. If you do not have an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, you can purchase one through doit.missouri.edu for $60 per year.
Adobe CC Library: Mizzou Brand Toolkit
The Mizzou Brand Toolkit is an Adobe CC library available to Mizzou employees and student workers with an Adobe Creative Cloud license. Adobe CC users may use this library in the following programs: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Word and PowerPoint.
Installation and Library Tips
Adobe Programs
Install Library
- Log in to your Adobe account.
- Navigate to the Mizzou Brand Toolkit library.
- Select “Add to your libraries.”
- In your Adobe application, access the library by opening the CC Libraries panel: Window > CC Libraries.
- If you have multiple libraries, choose the “Mizzou Brand Toolkit.”
Library Tips
- Dragging an asset from the toolkit into your document will create a cloud-linked version. Think of this as placing an image.
- Hold down ALT and drag an asset to create an embedded version in your document.
Word, PowerPoint
Install Library
- Log in to your Adobe account.
- Navigate to the Mizzou Brand Toolkit library.
- Select “Add to your libraries.”
- In PowerPoint and Word, install the Adobe CC plugin: Add-ins > Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Login with university SSO.
Library Tips
- To place a graphic, select the asset, right click and choose “Place as vector.”
- To change the color or add a photo to the asset, right click on the inserted asset and choose “Convert to shape.” You can now change the asset color or add a photo within the asset using the “Format Shape” panel.

* Asset Tip: Use the brush or pen tool to draw your own lines. Turn the brush tool fidelity up to “Smooth.” Watch the end of your stroke to ensure the arrow isn’t distorted. Expand appearance to use them in InDesign, Photoshop, PowerPoint and Word.
Colors
Review the guidelines for using brand colors. These colors can be applied to projects in Adobe CC apps and Microsoft Word. To access brand colors in PowerPoint, use a branded PowerPoint template or download the Mizzou Brand Toolkit for PowerPoint.

* Asset Tip: These vector patterns can be adjusted by cropping, scaling and adding gradient feathers.
** Tips for using the live pattern swatches in Illustrator:
- Keyboard shortcuts:
- Hold the tilde key (~) to scale (S), rotate (R) and move (A) the pattern inside an object.
- The following patterns must be rotated at 40 degrees: Tiger Stripes, M-I-Z Stripes and Mizzou 1839 Alternate.
- A white hairline may be visible in the pattern. To ensure it doesn’t print or show up in your final file, follow these steps:
- Adjust the pattern in the shape you want and perform any scale, rotation and positioning needed.
- Select the shape and go to Object > Expand.
- In the Pathfinder panel, select “merge.”
Photo Grids
Install the IntelligenceBank plugin to easily access and place photos in the photo grids.

Typography Styles
These character and paragraph styles have been developed for both the brand fonts and the brand font alternatives.
To use these styles, add copy to your InDesign document, select the portion you want to apply the style to and then click the style in the library folder.

Adobe Express
The Mizzou Brand for Express is available to Mizzou employees and student workers with an Adobe Creative Cloud license. Adobe CC users may use this brand library in Adobe Express to create on-brand marketing materials.
