MU Web developers should use central Mizzou security resources whenever possible to limit costs to the responsible MU unit and to benefit from support, security, backup and disaster recovery.
Security
The Information Security & Access Management (ISAM) team is the Division of Information Technology’s unit responsible for providing security expertise and resources necessary to protect the university’s information assets and technology resources. ISAM offers support and education for Mizzou departments and MU students.
- Web developers should be familiar with the Division of IT’s data classification levels and applications security policies.
- All Web applications (online systems that store or transmit university-owned information) are required to be registered with the Division of IT’s application registry.
- All Web applications should be inspected for security issues through the Division of IT’s security inspection program.
E-Commerce
The Division of IT offers e-commerce services and works closely with UM System staff to meet strict system and security compliance requirements.
- MU Web editors and administrators should work with the Division of IT to develop effective e-commerce strategies for their specific situations, ensuring complete compliance with all university guidelines and policies.
