TheMizzouTube guidelines

Help tell the Mizzou story. Share a video on TheMizzouTube, the official Mizzou YouTube channel.

Follow these guidelines to help us choose videos that are right for our audiences.

YouTube video recommendations



Recommended: Original resolution of your video for HD it is 1920x1080 (1080p) or 1280 x 720.

Bit rate   

Because bit-rate is highly dependent on codec, there is no recommended or minimum value. Videos should be optimized for resolution, aspect ratio and frame rate rather than bit rate.

Frame rate   

The frame rate of the original video should be maintained without re-sampling. In particular pulldown and other frame rate re-sampling techniques are strongly discouraged.


H.264 or MPEG-2 preferred.

Submitting your video

File format

Please submit your video by providing a link where the video can be downloaded. Preferably, use your campus Box account to share the video with us.

When submitting, please provide the following information. Information marked with an asterisk is required.

  • Title*
    Name of the video
  • Description*
    Short 50-100 word description of your video.
  • Keywords*
    Word or short phrases that describe your video.
  • Proof of release*
    A copy of a signed release or a statement from an official department representative is necessary for posting video. Please provide contact information should we ever need to request the proof on file.
  • Location
    If you think it would be helpful to provide information about a physical location related to your video (name of building , landmark, city, etc.) please provide it.
