2.7 One Mizzou
University of Missouri departments and affiliated organizations should no longer use One Mizzou marks.
In 2011, MU students began using the concept of One Mizzou as a grassroots campaign to encourage a campus climate that embraces diversity and values inclusion.
Soon the concept spread throughout the university, and many departments incorporated One Mizzou as a theme for fundraising, athletics, alumni relations, licensed apparel and the MU strategic plan. As more units adopted One Mizzou, its meaning broadened to include the shared bond of loyalty and kinship that graduates feel for the university.
In 2015, MU students requested that the broader university discontinue using One Mizzou because the concept had lost its original intended meaning.
Individual departments and programs using One Mizzou should transition away from the concept, effective immediately.
